You may have seen it on The Doctors, or read about it in Vogue, this revolutionary new treatment is now available locally, and we are here to talk about it.
Miconeedling, more commonly known as skin needling, or collagen induction therapy, is a process of skin rejuvenation that involves creating controlled, micro punctures in your skin using very fine “micro” needles. By creating those controlled skin injuries, your body is then triggered into stimulating collagen growth. Since your skin is sent into hyperactive mode creating collagen to “fix” the damaged skin, your skin is left with a firmer texture, better laxity and facial scarring is minimized.
There are many advantages to Microneedling over other methods of skin rejuvenation. Laser skin tightening and chemical peels are limited to certain areas, and cannot be used around the eyes, and is limited to certain skin types and colors. This is also sometimes a preferred method because there is absolutely no risk in burning the skin, which can always be a factor with laser skin tightening, or chemical peels.
Microneedling is becoming widely popular due to it’s many benefits to the skin, and can even help hyper pigmentation, and uneven skin tone, with minimal down time. While getting a treatment done, your skincare professional will apply a thin layer of a topical medium that will be penetrated deep into the skin, as your skin is getting micro needled. Usually, this is Hyaluronic Acid (HA), which your body naturally makes. With any topical HA, your skin will be more plump, helping to soften those fine lines, wrinkles and even help with texture and tone. Other topical mediums are used, such as PRP, or Platelet Rich Plasma.
PRP has been used in wound healing for decades for various injuries. PRP comes from your own blood, as we separate the red blood cells from the serum that contains your own platelets. These platelets are high in healing agents, and will minimize your down time significantly. The serum is then activated with other agents that will help stimulate collagen production, cellular regeneration and overall skin growth. The platelets that are separated out from your blood will be used as the topical medium, instead of HA, and as we micro needle over the platelets, it is then pushed into your skin topically through the micro punctures, and the healing begins instantly.
Some of the same benefits can be achieved with microneedling with PRP as with HA. Skin texture, and tone inconsistencies, acne and surgical scars, photo damage, stretch marks and fine lines and wrinkles. Because Microneedling is non invasive, and can be done on most individuals, even if you don’t have any of the listed skin issues or concerns. If you are a candidate, you will benefit from this procedure.
As with most things in life, multiple treatments will need to be done to achieve the best result. This treatment is not only beneficial for your skin, but the best part is that its natural, with no harsh chemicals, and uses the substances our body already naturally produces to create amazing results.
We are happy to announce that we offer Microneedling with both Hyalaronic acid as well as with PRP, and our physicians and aesthetician are here to answer all of your questions regarding this exciting treatment.
