“Neuromodulators” (Botox and Xeomin)
What is the Difference? What is the difference between Botox and Xeomin? These “neurotoxins”, more recently named “neuromodulators”, are injectable treatments to help reduce facial wrinkles and fine lines. Both products are used to treat other concerns, but for the purpose of this blog post I will comment only on the treatment on facial wrinkles and fine lines.*
The ONLY difference is Xeomin does not have any preservatives or additives in it. It is known as the “pure neuromodulator”. Other than that both products seem to work exactly the same. They take the same amount of time to take full effect (5-10 days), they are FDA approved to treat the same areas, and it takes the same amount of each product to get the result you are looking for. As always, patients usually have a product that they “prefer” for one reason or another, but from a medical standpoint, there is no real difference between the two.
As always it is most important to look at the products available and to choose what best fits your needs. Here at Skin Deep Medical Aesthetics you will discuss the treatment desired with one of our physicians and together you will choose the product that best fits your needs and desires. *Individual results may vary.
