When you’re thinking about getting a facial, what’s the first thing you think of? Some people simply go to the spa for relaxation, and stress relief. Though how many people think of going to the spa to fix their skin? To not only relax, but get education about what your skin is doing and why it’s doing it?
Dealing with your skin can be a daunting task, and a very frustrating one. With so many products on the market, how can you possibly choose? What’s best for your skin? What is actually IN those products? With so many questions, and absolutely no answers, it can feel like you want to give up on your skin. But why? Your skin is literally an organ, and in fact, the largest organ of your body. So why would you skip out on it? With so many ads, and people talking at you about what the best treatments are, and what the best product to buy is, it can be really overwhelming. Skincare needs to be customized to each individual, simply because people misunderstand and misdiagnose their own skin problems and skin types. Unfortunately, skincare is not one-size-fits-all.
My goal as an Esthetician is not simply to get you in our door. We understand that making the switch to effective skincare can be more expensive than drugstore quality, therefore to invest in your skincare health has to be worthwhile. As a person who deals with fairly consistent skin issues, I understand the struggle. Although skincare products can certainly enhance your skin in so many ways, I want to build a relationship with my client to ensure that what I give them fits their skin, and their lifestyle. I encourage my clients to come back a week after their facial to consult with me about their experience, what they liked about it, what worked for them and most importantly, how their skin is. As your Esthetician, I want to take out all of the overwhelming feelings you may have to give you a clear understanding of how you should properly care for your skin.
It’s also important to recognize how important your lifestyle plays a role in your skin health. It’s essential to establish realistic expectations for your skin, and the health of your skin. By being educated about your skin, you’ll have a greater understanding of how to fix it.
I often encourage my clients to bring in any and all skincare products that they are currently using. It’s helpful for me to gain a clearer understanding about what your routine is, and how many products you’re using currently. It’s also important for me to know what you LIKE about each product. It could be as simple as the smell, or the texture. It helps me match you with more effective products, and so that you’re able to make an easy transition.
Each time a client comes into my treatment room, I want to have a thorough understanding of what their goals are, what they like and don’t like, and also how i’m able to help them. I want to thoroughly discuss each and every option available to them, to find the best fit. It could be as simple as a basic clean up of your skin, or it could be as invasive as wanting a “facelift” type treatment. We can do a little, or we can do a lot. Ultimately, it’s up to you. I’m just here to help you make the most informative decision based on the endless variables.
